100 Miles There We Were!

A1A riders took up on the challenge and rode 100 Miles this Sunday May 02, 2010 from Atlantique Cafe in Delray Beach to Hobe Sound.
We did it for fun, and made it fun all the way to Hobe Sound. Our first 50 Miles felt like 5 Miles, riding with a generous head wind. Still, we made a quick stop to refill by Publix on Palm Beach Island. On the way to Jupiter Island, we crossed the not so generous Blue Heron Bridge and started feeling it. In Juno Beach we made our second stop by a gas Station and then our third one by Hobe Sound Beach Park ( by then we were already riding for 62+ Miles). With 6 stops, long breaks, and a super fun group, we finished it in Style, riding over 102 Miles and over 50Miles against strong winds.

Way to go A1A Riders! Let's do it again! :)

For future rides, check out our calendar at www.a1ariders.com and join us!

Dear A1A Riders!

Thank you so very much for being a part of our Camp and team. Thanks for showing up to our rides, Social events, for volunteering and for supporting our fundraising events.

I truly appreciate all your fundraising efforts and admire your accomplishments.

We have some rock start fundraisers! I thank you so much to each of you and everyone who supported you,

to your friends, Family, co-workers and everyone else who helped directly or indirectly.

Together, as a Camp, we have raised over $ 14,000.00, and more is still coming in.

As a zMotion team, we have raised over $ 200,000.00, and will continue our efforts  and reach our goal of $ 300,000.00, in donations for the MS Society.

During all these months we have being training together and riding as a Camp.

This weekend, We ALL will be wearing our zMotion team Jerseys riding as the AWESOME team we are,

respecting the road and all the other teams and riders, honoring our efforts on supporting the same cause.

Taking safety as our priority, respecting all riders, proudly displaying through each and every member the amazing leadership of our team. “When we join forces, we move the immovable. When we team up, we change things for kids, for seniors, and for those in our communities who can’t change things for themselves.”( Page 8. 2009-2010 – zMotion Membership Guide)

You’ve done your Best! You are the best!

Thank you!

Let’s keep the donations rising,

And ride, ride, Ride!

Dear A1A Riders:

This weekend we are hosting the zMotion Sunrise Classic,

one of the most important events for our racing team and Captain Pat.

Here is a link to the event’s flyer: http://zmotion.org/v/files/ZMOT_062767_SunriseClassic_Flyer.pdf

MEET OUR RACERS, SUPPORT THEM, ROOT FOR THEM AND VOLUNTEER TO HELP!

As most of us are recreational riders, we won’t be racing, but rather rooting for our team.

Believe me, they love it when we show up and support them.

It gives them all that positive energy and support they need to win.

We are in need of Volunteers for both Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday either 6AM to 11 AM and then 11AM 4 PM.

We also need a group from 4PM – 6 PM.

Sunday we need volunteers from 6AM-11AM and then 11 AM-4 PM.

If you are able to help, please contact Emily Hilf at EmilyHilf@zadv.com ASAP!

This is a great opportunity for us to meet our racers, mingle with them,

support them, root for them and volunteer to help!

If you have joined any of our Captain Pat’s Ride, you might have met some or all of them.

Here is a link to our racing team’s page: http://www.zmotion.org/pro-a/154.htm

I have also copied some of the content of their page below:

“Winning isn't everything. It's the only thing.

Besides raising significant contributions for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and several other major charities,

zMotion has also brought together 20 of the winningest professional cyclists in the state,

ranging from Pro 1/2 to Master and Women's categories.

Our pro riders focus on winning USCF (United States Cycling Federation) points in the state of Florida . Also known as USAC (USA Cycling), these events are great venues for us to publicize the worthy zMotion cause. With our racers competing aggressively in events statewide, we are leading by example, befriending hundreds of enthusiastic cyclists along the way, and recruiting them to zMotion with every crank of the pedals. Congrats to all our 2009 racers; First Place team in Pro 1/2 and Masters 35+, as well as Top Five finishes for our Women and Juniors teams.”

We have a winning Team! And need your help as a zMotion member.

Please volunteer and let’s help at the  zMotion Sunrise Classic event!

Thank you,

Jupiter Island 42 Miles Bike Ride

We all gathered at a huge and FREE (OPEN TO THE PUBLIC) parking lot in Juno Beach off of A1A and Marcinski Road. I believe there were approximately 20 local riders. To attend a rider's request, I wrote down the parking lot's address, it is located at Ocean Cay Park, Palm Beach County Park and Recreation, 2188 Marcinski Road.

I left Delray Beach at 6.15 AM and arrived in Juno Beach at 7.15 AM. We left the parking lot at 7.30AM.
It was a very nice group of riders who tried to keep themselves on single file most of the time on a constant pace of 20-23 MPH.

The weather, the group and the views were great. A ride to repeat!

Holiday Inn Hotel Reservation for the MS Ride:

If you are a zMotion Club member and have already signed up for the MS, please make sure to contact Emily Hilf, our membership coordinator, at EmilyHilf@zadv.com with your hotel room reservation request ASAP. We have a limited number of rooms and they will be taken fast. A Standard room at the Holiday Inn will cost  us $ 209 plus taxes per night. Please send me an email with the number of people that you will be sharing your room so I know you are already all set up. If you don’t have someone to share it with,  and would like to do so, please also email me at karina@a1ariders.com with your request and I will be glad to set you up with a rider from our camp.

Important Info -- Friday Night Hotel for MS150
This year, the MS150 starts at the Homestead Motor Speedway. Knowing that some people would not want to travel that far south on the morning of the ride, zMotion has reserved a block of rooms at the Hampton Inn and Suites in Homestead for Friday night.  The rate is $109 for a standard room. While we don’t have specifics, no doubt riders will be gathering for dinner in Homestead that evening.  If you want a room, please contact our membership coordinator, Emily Hilf emilyhilf@zadv.com. Rooms are limited, so please don’t delay.

We will ride both Saturday and Sunday January 30 and 31:

On Saturday we will join Gina and her Camp JFR at the Cove for an Intermediate to advanced ride. We are planning to meet for breakfast Saturday, please click here to RSVP. On Sunday we will ride from Linton Blvd and will meetup with Camp Seaside Riders. Please take the time to RSVP for the Sunday ride at http://www.meetup.com/bicycle/calendar/12351318/

We distinguish ourselves by location, spirit and friendship:

    • We welcome beginners and Intermediate riders and offer the opportunity to join advanced riders.
    • We post our rides at http://www.a1aride.com/, where you can RSVP and interact with the other riders.

    • We keep our blog up-to-date with pictures and information about our rides, riders and events.
    • During our beginners laid-back training rides on Saturdays no one is left behind.
    • Our intermediate rides on Sundays are challenging and go all the way from Delray Beach to the tip of Palm Beach.
    • As a proud Camp of the zMotion team, we join all the zMotion organized rides.

Are you ready!? So Pedals up, and let’s ride, ride, ride!
